Since we are still Movement Control Order (MCO), it is discouraged to travel interstate unless for emergencies or work. Even though the interstate travel ban has been lifted, people still need to be aware when traveling. However, if you need to travel to the North, we have a big surprise for you!
For your information, this is not an airplane highway, even though it appears to look like it. This is the West Coast Expressway (WEC). This new 223-KM highway is connected from Banting, Selangor to Taiping, Perak. It has been in construction since 2014 and is anticipated by the Malaysia netizens for cutting short the amount of time in traveling.
Other for looking like an airplane’s strip, this new highway also popular because of the view. As you are driving, the green scenery of the palm plantation and ocean will soothe your tired eyes during the traveling. A trip for Nasi Kandar will be worth more!
Sadly, this highway is not completely done. It was estimated to be done in the year 2022 after some delays. However, there some sections that are opened last year that you can access like Beruas and Teluk Intan. So, if you wanna give a drive on the new road, you still save some hope.
So, if you are from the South and want to travel to the North for your Nasi Kandar or Pasembor, make sure to anticipate the opening of WCE Highway or you can visit the accessible routes like in Beruas and Teluk Intan. Happy driving!
