The Ministry of Health of Malaysia (Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia) discourages people from wearing one or two-layer fabric face mask as it. According to the Director-General of Health, Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, only the three-layer fabric cover is recommended to curb the transmission of COVID-19 based on the guideline set by the World Health Organization (WHO).
He added that a non-medical face mask need to have three layers which are hydrophilic and hydrophobic effects. This has been stated in the guidelines by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Thus, Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah called on all Malaysian to wisely choose and ensure that the fabric mask that they purchased is in accordance with the specification set by WHO. He asserted once more that the face mask must have three layers and not using one layer of normal fabric.
