MyEG Services Berhad has introduced a rapid COVID-19 testing solution and It’s ready to deploy this in Malaysia and the Philippines. It claims to produce results within 30 minutes.
The testing kit is currently priced at RM99 each and sold in packs of 10 at RM990. According to MyEG, the kit is developed by leading diagnostics company and approved by health authorities in China where it is widely used. COVID-19 kit enables qualitative detection of the virus through blood samples.
Each MyEG COVID-19 testing kit contains:
- 10 test/boxes
- Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) IgM Antibody test card in a sealed pouch with desiccant
- Disposable pipet
- Sample diluent
- User manual
The samples are then applied to the test strips and it is claimed to detect COVID-19 IgM and IgG antibodies which are produced within 3-7 days of infection. MyEG says that the kits can accurately and rapidly detect the presence of COVID-19 virus without the need of nose or throat swaps, and you do not need to send those samples to external diagnostic laboratories.
Beside personal use, for organisations that want to provide COVID-19 tests for their staff, MyEG is collaborating with approved medical facilities to offer on-site testing conducted by trained professionals at the organisation’s premises.
This is affordable compared to other options like the home screening service from DoctorOnCall which is priced at MYR700 and results may take up to 24 hours. Besides that, IHH Healthcare’s Gleneagles and Pantai hospitals also provide on-demand screening for MYR950.
MyEG is now waiting for approval from local authorities for the use of the kits. However, they start accepting pre-orders through myeg.com.my for Malaysia and myeg.ph in the Philippines.
At the moment, MyEG has begun accepting pre-orders and they require a 50% deposit. While, the remaining must be paid before delivery and the delivery is said to take around 14 days.
