Astro Staff Tests Positive for Covid-19

Astro Malaysia Bhd has shut down its Bukit Jalil broadcasting centre for 2 days, after an employee tested positive for Covid-19.

However, Astro assured that its broadcasting services will not be interrupted.

“The company has activated its business continuity plans to safeguard its operations and to ensure the safety of its employees. Its teams are currently split across different sites with a significant majority working from home,” it said in a statement issued Monday (April 6).

According to Astro, the employee who tested positive for Covid-19 works at its Outside Broadcast (OB truck) transportation team at the All Asia Broadcast Centre, Bukit Jalil. And the employee is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

“We wish to emphasise that the health and safety of our employees is our utmost priority. We are working to identify those who came in contact with the infected employee”

“As a precautionary measure, our Bukit Jalil broadcast centre will be closed today for full sanitisation and will reopen on April 8,” said an Astro spokesperson.

Astro is committed to safety measures in its office to keep employees safe which includes an increased frequency and level to disinfect the offices, providing hand sanitisers, encouraging social distancing in cafes and lifts, taking the temperatures of every employee entering the premises, cancelling shows with live audiences, public events and many other measures.
