A single mother who was imprisoned for eight days and fined RM1,000 for violating the Movement Control Order (MCO) has questioned that why her punishment was harsher than Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s daughter and son-in-law for a similar offense.
According to The Star, B. Lisa Christina was initially sentenced to a 30-day jail term on April 21. But after an appeal, her jail term was subsequently reduced to a RM1,000 fine as she was a first-time offender and had already imprisoned for eight days.
Right after spending eight days in jail, Lisa Christina wrote a post on Facebook yesterday(May 5). She pointed out that comparing to her RM1,000 penalty, the court’s decision seems to be double standards as Datuk Nurulhidayah Ahmad Zahid and Datuk Saiful Nizam Mohd Yusoff’s fines were lower than hers which is RM800 only.

HI all.. I am the single mother who was charged for violating MCO. I was arrested by police when I was out to buy drink at Shah Alam and talking to a foreigner friend, whom I met outside the shop. I know I did a mistake and I didn’t act aggressively to police.
I was produced to court and the judge gave me punishment of 30 days jail term even though I pleaded that I am a single mother. I appealed the case to high court and the sentence reduced to 8 days jail terms and RM1,000 penalty.
During the 8 days jail, I felt so shattered for unable to see my son and felt so embarrassed. I even had to borrow from my mom RM1,000 to settle the penalty.
Today I read that Dato Zahid’s daughter just given RM800 for the even bigger offense than I did and no jail term given. Am I a second class citizen to this nation? Why this double standards?? I need explanation for this.
