After a long week surviving with Malaysia’s hot weather, I’m pretty sure you’re wishing for a short vacation during weekend to somewhere cold! Your wish is granted! Here’s an amazing cool place which is none other than Bukit Larut (Maxwell Hill) in Taiping, Perak!

Bukit Larut which is formerly known as Maxwell Hill is a quiet hill spot that is very peaceful and keep you away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The place is full of beautiful wildflowers such as daisies, tulips, roses, pansies, marigold, dahlias and petunias and lush greenery with fresh mountain air and without forgetting the cold temperature too! There is also a waterfall where visitors can enjoy a cool splash or a picnic.

With average temperatures of between 10 to 25 degrees Celsius, Bukit Larut is indeed a perfect destination for those who want to avoid the heat and humidity of the lowlands of Malaysia.

There are no swanky or five-star hotels available; modest but comfortable accommodation with a number of welcoming bungalows, chalets and restaurants, some of which were built nearly a century ago.

You can have a picnic session with your friends or family, watch the birds chirping and flying around, go for a hike which is about 13km to reach the peak, observe the beautiful nature by the waterfall and many more.

Private vehicles are not allowed up Bukit Larut. Instead, the resort provides transportation services in Land Rovers at the foot of the hill. Operating hours of Land Rovers are daily from 8a.m. to 5p.m.. There is the tarmac road which the jeeps take, and also a jungle trail that goes all the way up.
