Recently, there’s a spike of COVID-19 cases among the local. As a Malaysian, we should be aware that the pandemic is still not over and take care of ourself. So for those who need some update before going out, here are what you need to know!
1. Incoming travellers to undergo quarantine at designated centres from Friday (July 24)
Starting from Friday (24 July 2020), all the travellers who come into Malaysia will undergo mandatory quarantine upon arrival at designated quarantine stations. It is compulsory for all the travellers to go through the 14-day compulsory quarantine. It was also added that the returnees will have to pay for the cost of the quarantine. The cost will be RM2100 for 14 days for both Malaysians and foreigners. As for the sponsored students, B40 (lower-income) families and the disabled, they will be exempt from paying the cost.
2. Wearing mask is mandatory in crowded places and public transports from Saturday (August 1)
Other than that, from 1 August 2020, it is mandatory for people to wear a mask in the crowded public area and public transports. For those who violate instructions will be fine of up to RM1,000, close to the minimum monthly wage of RM1,100 or RM1,200 under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988. With the new order, the public can sew their own mask or wear a homemade mask by using the specification provided by the World Health Organization (WHO).
3. People who provide fake details such as names and numbers will be fined for RM300
For the people who caught providing the fake IC or phone numbers will be subjected to a fine of RM300. It was reported a lot of people are putting fake names and fake numbers in record books while dining in the restaurants. Not only that, but police also will do spontaneous raids at restaurants to check their record books with the details of dine-in customers. Furthermore, the police will be setting up a team to monitor the restaurants in order to ensure the record books are being kept.
