He said the theme was chosen in recognition of the caring, determined and patient nature of Malaysians in facing the trials and tribulations posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“A special mention goes to the frontliners who have worked tirelessly in the fight against Covid-19,” he said when launching the theme and logo.

He also announced that Sarawak would host the Malaysia Day celebration on Sept 16 for the second year in a row.

“Other than that, the National Day will be celebrated on 31st August 2020 in Kuala Lumpur; and the Malaysia Day will be held on 16th September 2020 in Sibu, Sarawak,” he said.

Senior Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri announced that there would be no National Day parade this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic on 8th July 2020. There will be no parade, but Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) will be broadcasting a programme on 31st August 2020 to mark the occasion. He said the parade would involve thousands of people and would render social distancing a difficult practice among the public attendees.
