According to NST, a 4-day upgrading works on Selangor River Treatment Plant (LRA) Phase 3 (LRA SSP3) will lead to water supply disruption for 420,000 user accounts, 290 areas across 5 regions – Petaling, Klang, Gombak, Kuala Langat and Kuala Lumpur.
Selangor Water Management Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) director and operations chief Ir Abas Abdullah said the LRA shutdown, which includes the replacement of several major pipelines, was to improve system and plant operation’s efficiency.
He said the timing of the disruption and recovery of water supply would also vary by districts, geographical locations and altitude of the customer’s premises.
Due to the LRA shutdown, the 290 areas will experience scheduled water supply disruptions starting July 14 from 9am until July 17 in the evening.
Thus, he urged customers to store some water and consume it prudently during this period, reported by Malay Mail.
Air Selangor would mobilise 91 water tankers with priority on critical premises such as hospitals and dialysis centres.
Public could use public water taps provided by Air Selangor, contact or visit one of the eight local service centres from July 16 to July 17.
While, commercial users could buy water supply from 10 Air Selangor customer service counters at RM2.28 per cubic metre and payments can be made either at Air Selangor customer service counters or through online transactions.
