As we all know that we still cannot go to the oversea for traveling as the RMCO is extended until 31 December 2020. But, lucky for us, we still can go for Cuti-Cuti Malaysia and the best part of it we can get income tax relief for domestic travel!
The income tax relief is to make people to travel more and help to revive the impacted tourism industry. As you are traveling, you can get income tax relief for tourism expenses up to RM1,000. The period will be until 31 December 2021. This is under the PENJANA Economic Recovery Plan that was recently announced on 5th June 2020
You also can get a full tourism tax exemption for the period from 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021. Not only that, but there will be an exemption for service tax on accommodation services provided by accommodation premises operators. It is extended from 1 September 2020 to 30 June 2021.
With all of these initiatives given by our government, we can take a break and have fun traveling within Malaysia. Our country has a lot of beautiful places and it is a shame that we don’t appreciate it enough!
