CCTV footage of the incident went viral yesterday. The incident happened in a broad daylight, 8 am in the morning at Sri Semantan petrol station, Mentakab. The girl who is a student was filling up petrol into her yellow Toyota Corolla and did not turn off the engine.
A man with a jacket can be seen walking towards her car. While the girl was busy fuelling up, he took the opportunity to sneak into the driver seat. Then, the girl was trying to open the door in the passenger seat may be to question him why he got into her car.
The man just presses the accelerator and sped off. The girl was dragged several meters, slipped, and fell on the ground. She was slightly injured.
According to NST, police have arrested a 27-year-old man, who has past record of drug and criminal offenses in Subang Jaya, Selangor yesterday. The team also recovered the stolen vehicle.
The police spoke person said, a CCTV footage obtained from the petrol station revealed the suspect drove a car and parked at the back of the petrol station. The suspect has been transferred to the Temerloh police station for investigations under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.
