A new Police car was stolen in Seberang Prai and the suspects took a joyride all the way to Shah Alam, just to impress his girlfriend.
The rare incident happened in North Seberang Prai police headquarters on Oct 24 around 10pm, where the 2 suspects claimed themselves policemen from the information technology resource division to check on the car’s computerised system and then drove off the police car, a new Honda civic 1.8S, reported by The Star.
A policeman with the rank of sergeant, only realised that the vehicle had been stolen half an hour later when the suspects did not return to the police headquarters and could not be contacted.
The 2 suspects are Malay man who believed to be siblings aged 32 and 28 respectively, and the girlfriend aged 21, was believed to be the 32-year-old man’s girlfriend.
According to the initial investigation, after they hijacked the police car, the 32-year-old dropped off his younger brother, then he picked up his girlfriend at Tasek Gelugor and had even attempted to rob a grocery store.
Then the couple took a joyride all the way from Penang to Shah Alam, Selangor which is more than 300km away.
According to China Press, another patrol police car managed to locate them and chasing them all the way from Kuala Lumpur to Shah Alam. At some point, the police lost them.
However, the police then found the two and the police car in one of the traffic light in section 9 Shah Alam and the vehicle was believed running out of petrol.
The Malay man and his girlfriend were arrested on the spot, 5 hours later after the police car reported lost. While the 28-year-old brother was arrested in Tasek Gelugor early morning yesterday ( Oct 25).
Police investigations also found that the main suspect had been arrested on Oct 15 for stealing electric cables and both siblings had past criminal records, including drug convictions.
The case is being investigated under Section 379A and section 170 of the Penal Code for theft and for impersonating a civil servant, respectively.
