Since the outbreak of COVID-19, a lot of us probably are looking for products or devices that can protect us against the deadly virus. The” health tag” and “sterilization stick” seems like a trending product in the e-commerce platform. Have you bought one too?
Lately, a medical expert took social media to share their expertise on those products marketed online claimed themselves 99.9% sterilization effect, prevent viruses and shield against bacteria and fungi too. But the expert said,” It’s not only NOT helping but can HARM your health.”

This is the latest trending product named ” Sanitizing Deodorant Device”- a sterilization stick, did you bought one?
A lot of local artists, influencers, Dato, and celebrities are promoting this sterilization stick, and the product was selling fast on the e-commerce platform. If you do a search on Facebook, you will find plenty of posts selling it with comments below that full of ” PM” ( Personal Message).
Let’s cut it short, I would like to share some of the research I did.
1️⃣ Those sterilizing sticks do not register with National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) under the Ministry of Health(MOH). I personally send them an email and they reverted the following email.
2️⃣ This sterilizing stick works the same as the health tag, the common things in both highlighted the product contains Chlorine dioxide.
Not long ago, Pusat Racun Negara did clarify these products not only NOT helping but inhaling gases released by the products will be harmful to your lung. The most worrying part is a lot of people thought using this product they will be protected, not contracting Covid-19 with guard-off and not adhering to the given SOP.
3️⃣ One of the brands ( DR. CXX) claimed themselves a medical device that approved by FDA(US) . No doubt, they registered under FDA, but in the FDA document it’s written the device only work against
➡️Bacteria（Salmonella typhimurium，salmonella choleraesuis，Staphylococcus aureus，Pseudomonas aeruginosa）
➡️Fungi（Trichophyton mentagrophytes）
Among all, none of it stated it against Covid-19 or other viruses.
Moreover, to achieve protection against bacteria and fungi, you actually need to sterilize it with the solution in the device, but not just hanging the device on your neck.
4️⃣ In United State, the Environment Protection Agency ( EPA) had listed all registered COVID-19 Sterilizer. If Dr. CXX is one of them, they should be listed in the EPA too. However, when you search for a Chlorine Dioxide sterilizer, you will not able to find Dr.CXX ( as well as sterilizer stick with other brands like MXXXXXXXX)🤷🏻♂️
5️⃣ You probably asking: Without certification of its effect, how can these brands dare to tell the world they protect you against the virus? and many artists selling it? HELLO, how to dig the money from your pocket if they are not daring to claim those effects? How to spark your interest if not spending money to get artists to speak on behalf of them?
In a nutshell, since the pandemic began, all the relevant health organizations and institutes spending time, effort, and billions of investment on vaccines. It sounds irony when a lot of people don’t believe in vaccines and rather believing in products that were not scientifically proven. Is it funny?

▼ Somehow, one also defending the brand saying Dr.CXX is used to reduce the risk of infection. but not to eliminate the risk. The product never claimed after wearing it no need to wear a mask & report showing is good for the small chamber.
