Ever since the pandemic, most merchants encouraged customers to use e-wallet to make an payment instead. But, merchants out there! Please be extra careful, as scammer trying to trick victims with their new tactic!

A netizen, Yen in Kedah took social media to share a horrifying experience. Where a customer walked in to their shop, picked the most expensive item and pay with one of the e-wallet and they nearly lost RM400!

The post read:

I never thought this incident will happened on us, and glad we didn’t handed him the goods. Or else we were not only losing money but also our items, I’m here to urge everyone to take note on the TXX eXXXXXt payments.

The incident happened in Bandar Laguna Merbok, around noon time. One Chinese customer walked in, looking for some quality products. He then chose the most expensive electric drill and some other items worth RM395.00.

It’s quite strange as he didn’t check the drill whether it’s working, when came to payment. He said he wanted to pay with TXX eXXXXXt. He showed us the the notification page where transaction is done and even asked us to take a picture of the notification.

But my boss is the very careful type, he normally will check whether the transaction is over in his phone before handed customer the goods. But, my boss found no transaction record from the said customer. But the customer insisted it’s over to us already.

Then my boss called TXX eXXXXXt to verify. He started to look anxious and uneasy and said he will come again to buy the items. Merchants out there, who accept TXX eXXXXXt payment, please be extra careful in future. As we found the transacted amount on that payment is only RM0.01.

▼ “He is smarty pants, sadly used on a wrong way”

▼ Some people also met the same scammer, one said,” He asked a young boy to transfer RM6k to him and pay the young boy cash”,” 2 groceries store experienced the same things too”

▼ One found something suspicious and said he never come across a notification with a statement ” Attention awareness is now enabled.”

▼ Some suspected the conman photoshop the RM395, as the RM shouldn’t be in bold. One noticed the timing is 3 minutes different, the conman should have enough time to edit the notification. Other netizens also agreed that,” 1-2 mins is enough to re-edit the notification”

Some suggested the merchant can asked customer to show transaction history. And one suggested the merchant to ask customer to click on the “Done” button at the bottom. If he dare not click then something is fishy.

▼ A netizen just tried and said she did it to re-edit the notification page and it took her less than 3 minutes. If the internet connection is good probably time needed is even shorter.

One netizen suspected he screenshot the RM0.01 transaction done page. Deleted the amount ( RM0.01) to the amount he want. It can be any amount.

▼ ” Please lodge a police report and hand the report to TXX eXXXXXt. The conman account will be blocked”

▼ Track him down! Some think can easily trace this man as he will need to scan MySejahtera when he go into the shop. one suggested to get the man info via TXX eXXXXXt the one transferred the RM0.01 over to their company.

▼ One suggested the boss to add their payment counter staff info under “My organisation” , so the payment counter staff will get notification when the payment is over.

▼ Good to know, as a lot of bosses never check the transaction and just look at customer e-wallet notification. Please be extra careful in future!
