According to the news, about 2 months back a car sales executive took TikTok to post a video promoting Proton X50 and a claimed even with monthly income of RM2,800 you can own a Proton X50 too. The post was then screenshot and tweeted by a netizen.

The netizen “roasted” the car sales executive in Twitter: 「Monthly pay of RM2,800 can buy X50?! This is crazy! Even the basic model on a 9 years loan, it’s still a lot of money! I haven’t even add in the amount to pay for insurance, which you will have to pay yearly. I just checked, at least RM2,000.

▼ In the video, the sales associate answered a question from a customer:  「sis, what proton car can i get with monthly pay of RM2800?」She said:「You can get Proton X50 !」

The post author took the tweet to state that, cheapest model of Proton X50 will be selling at RM79,200. Calculated based on 10% downpayment, 3% of interest rate and 9 years loan, you will have to pay RM838.20 monthly.

According to WapCar, following the recommended guideline that you should not be paying more than 20 % of your monthly salary for your car’s repayment, you’ll need to bring home a net salary of at least RM 4,000 a month to afford a basic model Proton X50 that priced at RM79,200.

Most netizen do not understand the move of getting Proton X50 with a monthly income of RM2.8K. Some people even felt the financial stress to afford Perodua Axia with income of RM3500.

「Even with monthly income of RM6,000, i can’t afford X50. My monthly expenses is too high! For X50, i will have to spend at least RM1000 for a car monthly, why don’t i get a cheaper car.」

▼ Buying of course no problem, the problem will be the monthly repayment~

▼ Maybe just a test drive~ ” I’m young with RM1500 pay also i test-drive BMW!”

▼ Of course not an issue for those who count on/ rely on their family/ Boyfriend.

▼ Why not? loan to the maximum, interest rate 3%, 9 years, monthly paying RM940 reasonable!

▼ “RM2800 is not your salary forever, maybe few years later you will have an increment. Who knows?”

▼ Maybe not a bad thing: If you are single, no commitment, why not? maybe it can motivation too. Not a bad thing! If you are young then it’s possible.
