I have seen several cases :

  1. When going in the checkpoint, you will be told that you only have record entering the country but not out of the country.
  2. When exiting the checkpoint, you will be told you do not have a stamp for the entry. This is more troublesome as you are illegally enter their country. In the case you been held at custom, please get Malaysia embassy for help.

The unlucky me experienced it for the first time. The immigration officer was looking at my passport. I had a bad feeling. He said : 「Erm.. Do you have your expired passport? On 2017, we had your record for entry but not out of the country.」

He showed me in his computer screen where my record was really not found.

Luckily i read some post in FB and XiaoHongShu, so i brought along my expired passport. I showed them my expired passport with the out of the country stamp. The officer told me :「You’re so lucky. 」Or else i can be fined 20,000 Thai Baht ( Around RM2,430) + 3 years black-listed ( not allowed to enter the country).

So, each and every time when you enter or exit a country, please double check on the stamping!

▼ Netizen: Yes my friend experienced the same. He didn’t bring along his expired passport and not allowed to enter the country. He was all alone bringing his luggage back to Malaysia.

▼ Netizen : I just went last week. I don’t need the expired passport at all.

Netizen: It will be your turn soon. You just don’t know when. I do have 2 friends experienced the same. They just want under-table money.

Netizen: I just brought the new passport.

Post author : If they never questioned you then it’s fine. Because 4 of us in the car. They only questioned me.
