To show appreciation, this business owner giving him 50% of the company shares!
According to 《Sin Chew Daily》, the 59-year-old business owner of a motorcycle workshop started his business from scratch and the business developing well over the years.
About 3 years back, the business owner decided to retire and gave 50% of the shares to his staff who is non-blood related and working 20 over years with him. While the another half will be inherited to his 28-year-old elder son. He said the 50% share of the company worth few hundred thousand Singapore dollars.
He added this is not an impulsive decision but after much thoughts. Mainly because his thoughts, capability and management skills are very close to him.
「 Maybe a lot of people cannot understand my move. But, i think not all the fortune have to spare to only my family. But i believe in my instinct! I believe my staff capable enough to inherit the business.」
The business owner is glad as the staff and elder son managing the business well, and expanded the business into more market. 「I always think one’s capability is limited. But if the 2 of them can work together then it will be perfect.」
Then staff with surname, Chia told the media outlet. He used to be the customer in the motorcycle workshop 20 over years back when he was still a delivery man. However, he met an accident and due to the accident his leg injury causing him to stop working temporarily.
Chia said : 「During that time, i’m the breadwinner and have to shoulder all the expenses in the family. The boss suggested me to work in his workshop and on the other hand, he also helping to get lawyer to get compensation from the man who caused the accident. I’m really thankful to all the things he done for me.」
He started with a low position, but within 5-6 years he been promoted to Manager and always set the boss as his role model. He was shocked after knowing his boss decision but he wanted to give it a try!
「 We are the ambitious type. So, we will be full swing in developing the business. After i took the shares, we trying our best to expand the company too, including getting sole distributor for some motorcycle’s accessories. 」
After Chia tied the knot, his wife is working in the company too for 14 years now.

The business owner added he make the decision 3 years back without discussion . But his wife respected his decision.
「I handed the shares to my staff for the benefit for the company. As my son will have a team that really back him up. My eldest son started from low position too, now they have an equal shares.」
Now the business owner retired but only on and off going back to the workshop to help up as a consultant. Most of the time, he will be on the charity career.
「No one can take the fortune with them after death. Thus, i was thinking to use the money to help the needy.」
