According to Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia), the cross-border haze from central and east Kalimantan, Indonesia is not likely to hit Malaysia anytime soon.

Based on the monitoring by the Asean Specialized Meteorological Center (ASMC) on July 3, 2020 showed that 3 hotspots have been detected in Borneo and 12 hotspots in Sumatra, Indonesia.

“Based on the number and position of the point of heat and the direction of the wind, it shows that no cross-border haze is expected to happen in the near future”, mentioned in the statement.

Therefore, there is no need for us to worry about the haze from east and central Borneo will hit the country. Currently, the air quality across the country is in line with the Department of Environment’s Air Pollution Index (API), which shows good and simple categories.
