Traffic Police Showered with Compliments from Netizens For Rescuing Injured Monkey on Highway

A 2-minute video clip on PDRM’s Facebook page showed traffic police officer Azizi Adnan, his 2 colleagues and a good Samaritan helping an injured monkey in a highway went viral.

The post garnered more than 40k likes and 3.3k shares. Mostly praised them on their kind act.

The incident took place around noon on Jul 21 when Azizi, was patrolling along Sungai Ramal-bound road. He spotted something in the middle of the road and thought it was a small child.

Luckily it’s not a child. It turned out to be a monkey with it’s head bleeding. Suspected hit by a motorcycle.

Without second thought, he quickly stop oncoming traffic to ensure the monkey was not run over.

A kind motorcyclist also stop by to help. They finally managed to bring the monkey off from the bustling highway and deposited in the secondary forest adjacent to a slip road.

“We save lives, it doesn’t matter if they are humans, monkeys or dogs.

“Besides, the monkey in the middle of the road could pose a danger to other road users. Accidents could happen,” said Azizi.

According to Malaysiakini, He also expressed concerns on the regular presence of monkeys on the highway.

“Probably their habitat has encroached. Otherwise, they wouldn’t get lost here,” he said.
