Girl Found Dead After Being Left In the Car for 10 Hours!

Yesterday, on 13th August 2020, a 4-year-old girl was found dead after being left in her father’s car in Bukit Makmur, Sungai Lalang, Sungai Petani, Kedah.

According to Harian Metro, the girl was found unconscious in the back seat of the car by the girl’s father who works as a lorry driver wanted to go back home at 6.20pm after work.

Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Adzli Abu Shah said that the four-year-old girl is believed to be left in the car for almost 10 hours with windows closed and the car engine turned off.

The victim’s father who is in his 30s said that he sent the victim’s sister to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Teluk Bayu, Sungai Petani at 7.30am before heading straight to his workplace in Bukit Makmur, Sungai Lalang.

The victim’s father forgot that the victim was sleeping in the back seat of the car.

“The victim should have been sent to her grandmother’s house which is located in Kampung Bukit, Sungai Pasir before going to work”, he said in a media statement, today, 14th August 2020.

According to Assistant Commissioner Adzli Abu Shah, the victim’s father went to drive lorry to several areas before returning to his factory at 4.30pm.

After arriving at the factory, the victim’s father continued his work in the factory and when he wanted to go back home, he saw the victim in an unconscious state in the back seat of the car.

The victim’s father made emergency calls to report about the incident, however, the child was confirmed dead by then.

The victim’s body was brought to the Forensic Department of Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital, Alor Setar for an autopsy which should have been done by 10am today.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 31 (1) (a) of the Children Act 2001.

Parents with small children should be more careful and check the back seat of their cars before leaving to avoid this kind of incidents.
