This is Annabel Yao, heiress of the Huawei empire. This glamorous young woman in her 20s is the youngest daughter of Ren Zhengfei, founder of the tech-giant in China.
Annabel was born in 1998 in Hong Kong, she is the daughter of Yao Ling, second wife of Ren. Although Annabel’s parents have separated by now, but she is still the apple of her father’s eye.
Her life is a fabulous adventure. She has traveled a lot around the world. She spent the past four years in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, as an graduate of Harvard University . But sadly she graduating in pandemic so no cap and no gown for her this year.
She is also a fervent ballerina at Harvard. She start dancing since 15-year-old in Shanghai trained and performed with the Harvard Ballet Company.
In one of Ren’s interview, he said Annabel danced 15 hours a week, describing her love of dancing. “We felt it would be much better to support her in doing whatever she wants to do,” he said.
In 2018, the Huawei heiress drew international attention by participating in the Le Bal des Debutantes in Paris. Those chosen for their looks, brains and famous parents – prominent in business, entertainment and politics.
“I definitely feel very honoured to be included, as there are only 19 girls in the world this year,” she comments on her debut. “It means I have to work harder, try to accomplish great things in my life and be a role model for other girls.”
She was among the three debutantes chosen for the opening waltz at the ball. Other 2018 debutantes included Julia McCaw, daughter of AT&T founder Craig McCaw, and Angel Lee, who hails from a family of Hong Kong-based property developers.
And now, what’s next for the daughter of the Huawei empire?
But anywhere, she’s got her computer science degree and should be ready to enter the tech industry anytime soon.
