“His condition deteriorated and he died at 3.22pm today, 21 March,” Health Director- General Dr Noor Hisham said yesterday.

Both his daughter, Syahira Idris and her sister tested positive for Covid-19, and currently, they are in isolation at HKL. Syahira had been tweeting updates on her father’s condition and yesterday she took to Twitter to express her grief and sadness for not being able to attend to their father’s funeral.

Looking at the current situation where they are in isolation the only thing she can do is sending prayers from afar for her father.

“With a heavy heart, I would like to share that my father Idris bin Atan has passed away. I pray that he will be bestowed all the blessings. The doctor said my father passed away peacefully. Thanks to all who have prayed for him. Only Allah can repay your kindness,” read Syahira’s tweet yesterday.

“My sister and I cannot leave the hospital. We can only pray for him from afar,” she said, adding that only her younger sister will attend to their father’s funeral arrangements.

“Rest, dad. No one can replace you. Thank you for being a kind father and a great husband to mum. The first hand I held, and now I hold it for the last time. Dad is in a better place now,” she said.

We love you, dad. But Allah loves you more.

She received many responses supporting her on Twitter, rooting for her to stay strong for what she was going through.

“The disease spread faster than we thought. Before this our dad was okay… but things got worse overnight. Please, please! Stay at home,” Syahira tweeted when his dad was in critical stage.

“It breaks your heart when your own father is in critical condition and you can’t do anything,” she said while pleading with everyone to “just stay at home! Please stay at home!”

Our deepest condolences to Syahira and her family, please stay strong ! We are praying for Syahira and her sister speedy recovery.
