Taiwanese-Canadian actor Godfrey Gao, 35, was officially declared dead on Nov 27, after he collapsed while filming ” Chase Me” in China.
“Chase Me” is a Chinese reality show by Zhejiang Television where young athletic celebrities compete with and against one another. It first aired on Nov 8 this year.
ET Today reported that Godfrey is filming on set of TV show and witnesses saw him looking very exhausted while running, and he repeatedly said “I can’t go on anymore” before collapsing at about 1.45am.
He remained unconscious even after the film crew CPR was performed on him, soon after he collapsed. The film crew said his heart stop beating for about 3 mins, and only started to beat after 15 mins CPR.
He was sent to the hospital past 2am. Unfortunately doctors were unable to resuscitate him. According to Taiwan News, his passing was due to heart attack.
Godfrey was born in Taipei in 1984, to a Taiwanese father and a Malaysian mother. He spent much of his childhood in Vancouver, before returning to Taiwan in 2004 to work as a model and actor.
He is best known for his role as the charismatic male lead in “Remembering Lichuan”, as well as model for Louis Vuitton.
