Driver Who Killed Puchong Snatch Thief May Face 10 Years in Jail If Charged

The snatch thief was killed shortly after robbing a 44 yo man in Bandar Puteri, Puchong in an incident that happened on 6.42 pm Dec 29 ,last Sunday.

After snatching the victim’s gold necklace, he went against the flow of traffic and stopped suddenly in the middle of the road when the victim was chasing him in his BMW.

“(The suspect) stopped his motorcycle in the middle of the road in a sudden manner and the victim could not brake in time. He then struck the motorcycle, causing the suspect to fall and was trapped under the car,” said Serdang district police chief Ismadi Borhan.

Despite the victim of the snatch theft incident called police and hospital emergency services immediately after the incident. However, The suspect was pronounced dead soon after he arrived Serdang Hospital.

Now the Malaysian police are apparently looking into charging the driver for causing death due to reckless driving.

According to Ismadi, the matter is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code (robbery) and Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

If convicted, the driver of the BMW could face jail time of two to ten years.
