Make a wish under the meteor showered skies.. sounded quite dreamy, i know.. But it’s going to happen soon in Malaysia.
According to timeanddate.com, on 4- 5 Jan 2020, Malaysians will be able to experience the annual Quadrantids meteor shower!
We’re in for a special treat this time as at its peak, the Quadrantids is expected to reveal up to 120 meteors per hour. Sounds amazing, right!
While meteor showers tend to stay at their peak for over a period of 2 days, the Quadrantids is unique because it only stays at its peak for a few hours.
The peak time to view this awesome occurrence is on 11pm of 4 Jan (Saturday) to the early hours of 5 Jan(Sunday). Which means you want to be at the perfect location to watch this beautiful phenomenon as it takes place.
How to See the Quadrantids?
You don’t need any special equipment or a lot of skills to view a meteor shower. Even though all you really need is a clear sky and lots of patience, the following tips can help maximize your shooting star viewing experience.
- Find a secluded viewing spot, away from the city lights. Once at the venue, your eyes may take 15 to 20 minutes to get used to the dark.
- Dress for the weather, and make sure you are comfortable, especially if you plan to stay out long. Bring a blanket or a comfortable chair with you—meteor watching can be a waiting game.
