If you ever suspect that you could probably high chance of getting Covid-19 with the symptoms such as fever, sore throat, coughing or difficult in breath, you may test yourself through Drive-thru tests. It is lot more safer as you do not need to walk in or queue in the hospital.
Although there are other medical healthcare facilities that offer drive-through Covid-19 screenings as well, KPJ Damansara said it is the only one that does not require appointments. The cost is RM600 per test.
Normally walk in test takes about 20 minutes, but the drive thru test only take up to 8 minutes for each person. The results will be available in 24 hours.
“The objective of the drive-thru is to reduce contact with others and make it convenient for people to get tested,” said Dr Nur Abdul Karim, consultant emergency physician and head of the Accident & Emergency Services at KPJ Damansara.
The drive-thru is divided into 2 stations:
1st station:Registration and payment. Reading of temperature, oxygen and pulse readings are taken as well.
2nd station: Covid-19 tests, nasopharyngeal (nose) and oropharyngeal (throat) swabs.
The drive-thru test is only available from Mondays to Saturdays, 8.30am to 12.30pm.
The speed and convenience will encourage the people to do checking, instead of queueing in a crowded hospital.
If you are happen to be in Penang, you may go to Pantai Hospital Penang. They do offer the drive-thru test as well.
