A couple are to have their baby early so that the dad – who has incurable cancer- can cradle his child.
Jamie Hunter and partner Beccy Flint found out they were expecting their first child together last year with a due date of the end of May 2020.
In October last year Jamie who is a PE teacher started to suffer a crippling pain in his side. At first, he thought those pain was caused by his excessive workout during his PE lessons but his wife insisted to bring him for a medical check-up.
After lots of tests and scans he was finally diagnosed with kidney cancer in March and a month later, the 38-year-old was told the cancer had spread to his liver and there was no cure.
Thus, the couple have made the decision to deliver their baby on May 10 in the hope Jamie can have the chance to meet and cuddle his newborn.
Beccy gave birth to a healthy little girl and the medical staff pass him the baby. He used all his strength to cuddle his baby girl but sadly, he passed away 2 days after his daughter was born.
His best friend Phil Taylor said: “Jamie will never be able to celebrate his baby’s first birthday, teach them to ride a bike and learn to swim or be there for their first day at school. These are the things we take for granted.”
