According to The Star, Education Ministry( MOE) said the school holidays have been shortened where, mid-semester school holidays for Semester Two will now be from Aug 20 to 28 while the year-end school holidays will be from Dec 18 to 31, depending on the state.
The mid-semester break will reduce from 9 to 5 days, while year-end holidays will reduce from 42 days to 13/14 days depending on state.The total number of physically being in school days is now 168 for all schools.
The amendment of the 2020 School Academic Calendar is to assist schools in planning the students’ teaching and learning process.
For now, Form 5 &6 students will resume school tomorrow (Jun 24), they have spent at least 55 days learning from home throughout the movement control order (MCO), CMCO and RMCO.
As for the other students, the ministry said the total number of days spent learning from home will depend on when they will return to school and the date has yet to be announced.
