Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced on 23rd July that starting from 1st August 2020 it is mandatory to wear a face mask in public transportation and crowded places. Those who disobey will be slapped with a compound of RM 1,000.
Some citizens are still taking Covid-19 pandemic lightly by not complying with the order to wear face masks in crowded public places. On 1st August, a total of 26 citizens were caught and given compound for not wearing face masks in public place in Kota Tinggi as per the government’s order.
Kota Tinggi District Chief Police officer, Supt Hussin Zamora, said that the compound was issued when an operation was carried out at Batu Layar beach near Bayu Damai.
“All of them failed to comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and order that have been set by the government to prevent the spread of Covid-19”, he said.
They have been informed of the offense and a compound worth RM1,000 has been given in accordance with Article 10, Infectious Disease Control (PPPPB) Regulations (No 7) 2020, he added in a statement.
According to Kota Tinggi District Chief Police officer, Supt Hussin Zamora, the police have given a stern warning and will not compromise with any citizen who fails to comply with the SOPs.
Remember to wear your face masks in crowded public places and public transportation or get ready to be fined a compound of RM1,000!
