Malaysia is well-known as a county of multi-ethnic and multi-cultural, which has a significant effect on its politics. About half the population is ethnically Malay, with large minorities of Chinese, Indians, and indigenous people.
Although majority Malaysians live together with other races happily, but there are still some of them who stand out for their racism.
Two days ago, 13th August 2020, a post on Facebook about a netizen who was ‘kicked out’ of his rent house because he is not the same race as the management owner went viral with more than 10K likes and 5K shares.
According to the netizen in his post, he booked a room at The Grand Subang SS13 on July and moved in on 1st August 2020. He has already paid all the deposit and rental on time as he was supposed to. He moved in with his things and arranged them nicely in his rental room.
On 13th August 2020, all of a sudden, the owner of the management forwarded several WhatsApp messages to the netizen saying that they take only Chinese tenants to stay in their unit after discussion with their family members and forced the netizen to move out on the same day.
Well, at least the owner should have mentioned earlier if they only prefer Chinese tenants, so that the netizen would have not booked the rental room. He added saying, he don’t blame the management as they tried their best to fight the case for him but it clearly shows that the owner is insisting the netizen to move out immediately.
“I am super disappointed and angry on this. We are living in Malaysia, this is 2020. And yet such mentality still exists?! Shame on you! I have multiracial friends & don’t have any issues at all, so I don’t get it why this happened. All races deserves equality & respect! I am proud to be a Malaysian Indian!”, he said.
▼ People need to be aware that this type of racist issues is still happening in Malaysia and legal actions should be taken on this type of people!
