Recently, for joke purposes, Netflix Malaysia took to their Twitter account to post a funny status about how some TV show titles can sound humourous when translated to Malay.
The simple tweet on Twitter caused a commotion and many difference of opinion among netizens.
In their tweet, the Netflix show titled “Bird Box” was direct translated to “Kotak Burung” which sounds really hilarious!
Sometimes, we can’t disagree but say Malaysians can be baffling.
▼ Some Malaysian netizens find the tweet offensive as it seems to be making fun of Malay language and disrespecting the National language.
▼ While some defended saying this tweet is posted just for joke purposes and it has nothing to do with making fun of Malay language. Some even said that Malay drama shows using ‘Manglish’ and “WeChat” languages should receive backlash more.
▼ The best part of the entire thing is finally here! Netizens played along with Netflix Malaysia by translating English show titles to Malay which stole the entire attention of the show!
Well, personally, I feel like this is some sort of a joke only and nothing offensive. What do you guys think?
