63-Year-old Taiwanese Grandma was believed not satisfied to raise up the grandchildren alone, thus she don’t give him food, control his movement by tying him with rope and metal chain, beat him with metal rod, broom and even used scissor to remove 10 fo his finger nails. The boy was found death due severe malnutrition and brutally abused.
The parents of 5-year-old boy divorced. Thus the boy and his sister were staying with the grandma. Their mother already remarried and move to another city and refused to bring them along, reported by China Press.
The incident happened on Oct 31, 2019, where police received a call from the grandma saying that while she was half way showering the boy, she ran out to turn off the gas stove in the kitchen. Then she heard a loud noice where the boy fell in the toilet and hit on the toilet bowl.
When the police officers arrived, the boy was found cuts all over his face, massive bleeding. He was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead not long after due to internal bleeding.
One man in the hospital who want to remain anonymous told media, “The boy was skinny like a skeleton, scars and wounds all over the body. Some wound are even infected. It’s a child abuse. The prolonged starvation caused his permanent organ damage and eventually death.”
Before the grandma was arrested, she told media,”He is very naughty and always hurt himself. He don’t like to sleep at night, always move around. Sometimes i will scold and beat him when he is naughty. But I only beat him once. I always feed him food but he is a small eater. Thought of sending him to primary school next year. Sadly, i can’t do that anymore.”
Doctors reported that the boy was malnourished, had bruises, burns and cuts all over his body, finger nails were all gone. The police findings and evidences showed the grandma was the one brutally abused her 5-year-old grandchild to death. She was sentenced for life imprisonment.
The boy’s sister who also live with the grandma was currently under the care of welfare department.
