Apam Balik which is also known as ‘apom balik’, ‘sweet murtabak’ and ‘terang bulan’ is a typical Malaysian pancake and also a well-known yummy street food in nightmarkets!
I’m pretty sure all my fellow Malaysians, most of you at least, loves apam balik for its sweet juicy taste! The mouth-watering thick apam balik baked with butter, filled with peanuts and soft corns before folding it half is definitely irresistible.

Without further ado, let’s see what are the ingredients you need to make delicious apam balik!
All you need is:
- 200ml milk
- 60ml oil
- 2 egg(s)
- 160 g wheat flour
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 1⁄2 tsp salt
- 25g butter
- 3 tbsp creamed corn
- 45g sugar
- 3 tbsp peanuts
Now, let’s look at the steps to prepare apam balik!
Step 1: Mix milk, oil and egg together. Sift flour, baking powder and salt into the mixture. Stir well.
▼ Make sure the ingredients are combined evenly.
Step 2: Spread some batter onto the pan. Spread a thin layer of batter to the side of the pan. Cover the pan for 30-60 seconds until small air bubbles appear.
Step 3: Add butter, cream corn, crushed peanuts and sugar onto the pancake. Fold the pancake into half once the bottom surface is browned.
Your apam balik is ready!
Step 4: Cut it into wedges.
