A colourful splash in the sky, a rare phenomenon known as a “fire rainbow” has been spotted in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Netizens thought its an auspicious signs of god’s blessing.
A rare phenomenon that sees wispy rainbow-coloured shapes appear in the sky, have been lighting up social media after netizens spotted one over Kolombong, Kota Kinabalu this afternoon (Oct 15) at 1.25pm.
Sabah’s Covid-19 onslaught threatens to overwhelm the state, as hospitals and frontliners struggle to cope with over 100 coronavirus cases entering the public health care system every day.
A lot of netizens believing “Fire rainbow” is a good signs, praying that people in Sabah will be able to handle pandemic and contain the spread of the deadly virus soon.
According to wikipedia, a number of conditions in the atmosphere must culminate for the “Fire rainbow” to occur:
- The sun or moon must be more than 58 degrees above the horizon
- Cirrus clouds (the thin, wispy ones) must be present
- Ice crystals that make up cirrus clouds must be faced parallel to the ground
