“Never Ever Thought I Will Be Covid Positive”

“I never do interstate travelling, i have no contact with Covid-19 positive individual, i never visit any places with Covid-19 cases, WHY am i tested positive?” said one netizen in Facebook.

A netizen’s post in Facebook went viral yesterday when he shared his experience contracting Covid-19. Most netizens pray for his speedy recovery and some urged those who are waiting for Covid-19 test results should observed home quarantine.

He said in the post that he was feeling ill on Oct 7 and took medical leave to see doctor. His job scope will need him to meet a lot of clients. Thus, the clinic issued him 3 days sick leave.

2 days later, on Oct 9 his fever subsided but somehow he lost the sense of smell and taste. He was thinking to ease his mind, he went Klinik Kesihatan Taman Ehsan and spend RM150 for a Covid-19 test. The doctor said the medicine given 2 days back was quite strong thus losing sense of smell and taste was pretty normal.

Thus, he believed he was the midst of recovery. On the same night, he went for a gathering with his friends. He felt bad and wanted to say sorry to his friends that attended the gathering on that night.

He was feeling good on Sunday morning (Oct 11) but in the evening, he started to feel fatigue and the fever came back. He could sense something was not right. It’s the first time he felt weak and everything seems like out of control.

Sadly the next morning on Oct 12, he was called and informed that he was positive for Covid-19.

“The first thing to do is to informed my family, company and my company is ordered to close. All my colleagues will need to go for the test. Same goes to my friends and family. I was admitted to Sungai Buloh hospital for the treatment on the same night,” he said.

He was arranged to stay in a hall with 15-20 patients with Covid-19. The next morning at 6am, nurses with full PPE came to check blood pressure, body temperature. He felt thankful to the frontliners that risking their life to take care of all the Covid patients.

He received a call on the night that he will be transferred to another ward as his oxygen level was dropping and body temperature was high. When he was walking to his ward. One of the health officer help him to carry his bag. He asked,” What time normally you all off?”

” At critical time like this, we don’t have specific off time. We will just sleep here and continue our work when we wake up” Although, the health officer face was covered by the face shield but he could see tears in her eyes.

He is staying in a ward for 4 and it’s his 4th day of hospitalisation. His condition is improving but the condition of the patient in the opposite bed deteriorated, coughing non-stop and chest pain.

Lastly, he urged everyone to play their part, stay home as much as possible, avoid gatherings and public places. He also thanked all the frontliners for their selfless contributions. He believed if everyone is in it together. We will be able to flatten the curve again.
