The police have detained the owners of a beauty parlour in Cheras, KL over the death of the bride-to-be, Coco Siew on Sunday (Oct 18).
The Kuala Lumpur police chief, Comm Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said that the two owners are mother and daughter, aged 49 and 23 respectively. They have been detained to assist the investigation under Section 304 of the Penal Code, offence of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
The beauty parlour do have a business licence but not the practice certificate for plastic surgery. Only doctors registered with Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) and had qualifications and adequate experience are allowed to perform plastic surgery.
It is learnt that the victim had requested for a liposuction procedure although the centre was not an expert on it, reported by The Star.
Comm Saiful said the victim experienced difficulty in breathing and then lost consciousness after being injected on the arm. She was rushed to a nearby hospital and died soon after.
“We are still ascertaining the cause of death,” Comm Saiful told a press conference at the Sentul police headquarters on Monday (Oct 19).
