A Malay couple travelled more than 200km in motorcycle, to bring their daughter with eye cancer for treatment in Hospital Kuala Lumpur( HKL) caught netizens’ attention.
The 24-year-old father and mother, Nur Natasya travelled all the way from Ipoh last week with their 3-year-old daughter, Nur Madhiah.
The mother took a video of them riding in their motorcycle to KL and they got sheltered in R&R when it’s raining. She later uploaded those video on her facebook. She couldn’t believe those post went viral, and some individuals and even organization approached them to offer help.
According to Oriental Daily, they used to stay in KL but 5 months ago her husband was retrenched by the company. To make ends meet, they were forced to move back to Ipoh. Her husband is now working in a construction site. While she is a online merchant.
Their monthly income is around RM1,000. It’s sufficient for daily expenses. But their only worry is their youngest daughter with eye cancer.
“Me and my husband have 3 children, aged 5,4 and 3. Our eldest and second child are very healthy and now been taken care by my parents in law. While, the youngest was diagnosed with eye cancer at 3-month-old,” said the Natasya.
Natasya wrote in her post, ” We push off at 3.30pm and reaching at 9pm. It’s been a long and not easy journey. Please forgive us for not been a good parents but it’s our only way to bring her to HKL.”
Her daughter is now at stage IV where cancer has spread to other organs or parts of the body.
She also added, ” Her condition doesn’t get any better even treatment was given, now her lung, colon, heart and ear is swollen. Doctor predicted she cannot live more than 5 years. However, we will not give up. We will continue to bring her to HKL every 2 weeks for treatment.
Some netizens were blaming them travelling in motorcycle with kid is dangerous, she apologized and explained the reason why they were travelling in motorcycle.
“Because our financial conditions doesn’t allowed us to buy a car, normally we travelled to KL by bus. But looking at the surge of Covid cases, we do not want to put our daughter in any risk contracting the virus. For now, we really don’t have a choice.”
