A woman was beaten to death in Shuozhou, China by her husband as onlookers just watched or recording the incident with their mobile phone and no one stopping him during the tragedy.
A footage was uploaded in social media, and have been shared millions of times. Where a man can be seen repeatedly bashing a woman over her head and back with a stool in a broad daylight on Oct 31, reported by Daily Mail.
According to the police report the woman, the man’s wife dead on the spot beaten by her husband.
In the footage, also can be seen cyclists, motorists and pedestrians, including children, watching and recording with their mobile phone on the horrifying street-side attack.
The local news agency said the violence erupted after the married couple accidentally hit a vehicle while riding on their electric scooter.
Media posts about the incident drew more than 10k comments, with most criticising the onlookers who didn’t took any action to stop the tragedy and the lax attitude of the society towards domestic violence.
“He’s not holding a machine gun, why did no one step forward to control him?” asked one commenter in a widely shared response.
“The coldness of the bystanders shocks and infuriates me,” another comment on Weibo said. “How can they just stand there with their arms folded?” “Why is it more important to record this incident than to take action?”
“The suspect is in the custody and the case is in the midst of investigation,” police said.
