One of the Miss Hong Kong 2020 contestant Jessica Liu, 24, and her ex-boyfriend Sam Cheung, 27, broke up in October 2020. But sadly after the messy breakup, Sam was believed suffering depression and couldn’t took the outcome and decided to end his life.
Jessica had reported seeing actor Danny Hung, Sam also warned Danny not to interfere in their relationship in the IG before but the post was then deleted. When netizens widely discuss about their 3-way relationship.
Jessica and Sam stepped out to clarified there was a misunderstanding and that everything was fine between them.
Somehow, about 2 weeks later, Jessica announced that she broke up with Sam.
Sam then took IG to share his feelings, he wrote, “Being together with you for this year and a half, I’ve been through thick and thin with you. When you were at your lowest, I never left you, so why are you treating me like this in response to all that I’ve given to you?
“I’ve always regarded you as family, why did you leave me over a small matter? Is it because you joined the entertainment scene, and your eyes were opened up to a bigger world, and looking back now you think I’m nothing to you ?”
However, according to Hong Kong local media, the post was then deleted in his IG.
Jessica’s IG account was then bashed by netizens on the way she handled the relationship. She broke the silent somehow, and claimed her Instagram account had been repeatedly logged into.
She accused her ex-boyfriend of using her email, stalking and harassing her, and even stealing her phone on the street.
Sam also was said spammed her with messages on WhatsApp, and called her until her phone battery went flat
She said it doesn’t matter when criticised publicly by netizens because she don’t know them in real life. and they don’t know what actually happened between the two of them.
She also wrote, “please don’t tell me the ’emotional rant’ on your IG is not written by you, and it was written by someone who hacked in your account. Please don’t use your friends as scapegoats and act as if all these aren’t related to you. Don’t let your sister act as a friend to come find me and don’t always threaten me that you will jump off from the building.
“These are not gestures of love. Please do not harass me, my friends or family anymore, You being harassing me over a month, I can actually lodge police report against you. But why i never do so, or why I remained silence even verbally attacked by strangers. If you are the victim, is this the ending you want?”
On Dec. 2, Sam jumped off from a building. Her sister then took his IG to confirm the news and thanked those who had sent them messages of concern and said that she’ll update again should a funeral be held.
Before his passing he last IG post wrote, ” Thank you for everyone who have been supporting throughout my journey. Good bye. Please forgive me for doing this. Been suffering for 2 months both mentally and physically. Just couldn’t take it any longer. Sorry”
According to Apple Daily, his younger sister said the family found a suicide note on his computer.
The note written that Cheung had attempted to jump off the building about five to six times in the past few months. And also talked about how Jessica was the love of his life.
Even though they only dated for a year and a half, he said that he had already seen her as a partner for life and wanted to marry her.
Sam also wrote that since September, he was depressed after experiencing both the loss of his relationship and career, making him feel like he’s lost his pillars of support and structure in life.
He added that after Jessica joined the entertainment scene, she was no longer faithful to him. She had started to date others behind his back.
Sam also said that he couldn’t accept losing Jessica, and he couldn’t find a reason to live.
