Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Shang-Chi. The film is scheduled to be released on July 9, 2021. It was previously scheduled to be released on February 2021. But it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Marvel recently revealed the full cast of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and it will be the studio’s first production with an Asian lead playing the superhero.
Anticipation for the film has been building since it was announced by Marvel in 2019. Marvel has released the full cast which consists of mainly Asian actors.
Simu Liu, Canadian Chinese actor stars as Shang-Chi, who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization.

While the film’s supervillain, Wenwu will be played by acclaimed Hong Kong actor Tony Leung. Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy, and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan. Additionally, Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu, and Ronny Chieng appear in the upcoming movie, which is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton.
Both Simu Liu and Cretton first shared short and to-the-point posts, with Cretton’s simple caption, “WE. ARE. WRAPPED!”. The shooting part was done and the film is now in the post-production period.
Simu Liu joking that they made a baby, continuing, “We can’t wait to introduce [the movie] to the world in 9 months.”
