A woman was fumed with stray cats that pooping at her doorstep stormed down from her flat on the first floor and hit the stray cats with a metal rod, killing a pregnant cat and leaving a few kittens injured.
The incident happened outside a block of flats in Seberang Jaya on Dec 29, the woman in her 50s found cats droppings at her doorstep and had stormed down from her first floor flat at Pintas Kalui 1.
She saw a few people feeding the cats and started to scream at them. Then, she went to her car that parked nearby to take out a metal rod and start attacking those stray cats.
A man who witnessed the incident in his 20s trying to stop her and told her what she does was wrong. But with no remorse, she said, ” You are free to report me!”
Another man who rested at the gazebo nearby the flats said the woman “showed no mercy” as she continued to hit the stray cats until they were motionless. He lodged a police report after the incident.
Central Seberang Perai police chief Shafee Abd Samad said two police reports had been received and the case has been taken over by the Veterinary Services Department (VSD).
He said the case was being investigated under Section 29(1)(e) of the Animal Welfare Act 2015 for causing unnecessary pain or suffering to an animal.
The case is currently under investigation and public are urged to come forward to record the incidents of abuse so that the offenders can be charged in court with enough evidence. # SayNoto AnimalCruelty
