Like what happen to this hapless woman who just found that she has been paying off the electricity bill for her neighbour! She shared her unfortunate story in her Facebook post where she has garnered over 5.2K likes and 3.8K shares as people were shocked to see how that kind of mistake could happen!
This woman has fought with TNB for many years regarding her ridiculously high electricity bills at home to the extend she even take the matter to the former energy, science, technology, environment and climate change minister, Yeo Bee Yin.
In her post, she explained she has TNB coming over to solve that problem but it was to no avail. She tried all sort of experiment, from shutting off the refrigerator and air conditioning to staying at her friend’s house. TNB also help to resort her problem by changing the meter and she had spend a lot of money for the repairing cost too. But everything seems to go in the dead end but she’s not giving up yet.
She knew she had enough and this issue need to settle when she received a bill of RM1500 in July this year. She called the electrician again and the electrician told her to call TNB to turn off her main switch and see if the meter still continues.
Magically, even after the power has turned off, her lights and fan still working! Not long after that, her neighbour’s maid came out asking why there is no electricity. Just like that, years of mystery is solved!
Turns out, her miserably high electric bill was her neighbour’s. And she has been steadily paying their bill for 5 years!
After that mind-blowing incident, she made a new post to explain the situation. Despite her unlucky event, her neigbour is not to be blame. It was the developer who messed up with the meter, causing TNB to follow the wrong meter all these years.
She also claimed that she always turn off all appliances in her home before getting checked, that’s why she never noticed that the master switch in her house was wrongly paired. But that day, TNB has switch off the master switch before she could turn off her appliances.
After TNB recalculation, she was shocked to see that she probably had paid RM15K or more all this while. However, luck seems to be on her side as TNB promised to refund her money. But she’s not sure if they will claim her neighbour’s for all their previous bills.
