Chinese New Year is near and everyone is getting ready to celebrate the festive day. However, since we are still in MCO, CMCO, RMCO, the Chinese New Year celebration would be very different than we used to due to the new norm.
But, that doesn’t mean we can’t bond and have a good day with some indoor activities, right? Monopoly has released a special edition set of Monopoly with the theme of Chinese New Year! The sets are in vibrant red and gold which a lot of designs that we mostly see in Chinese culture~ It looks so cool!
Also instead of the normal Monopoly pewter token such as Scottish Terrier, Top Hat, Iron, and Car, the Monopoly token for this set would be in gold. It has 6 designs of token which are golden tangerines, a lion head, a bull, a firecracker, a gold ingot, and a lantern.
The set’s rules are also a bit different as instead of buying properties, players buy shops, collect gifts, and find a good fortune to win. There is a jade shop, a flower market, a firecracker shop, and more shops that feature in the Monopoly set! But, the game rule to win is still the same. The more shops you own, the more money you can earn from opponents buying gifts from your shops.
However, the one thing that this Monopoly set has unlike the standard one is and Ang Pao for the players. Players can use the Ang Pao to store their money and cards!
The sets are available at Toys “R” Us outlets for RM99. But, it is also spotted at several other stores in Malaysia, like Parkson.
