Malaysia is currently entering the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, and sadly today we are at our highest recording 3,027 cases. The pandemic has decimated the cinema industry to a point where its recovery is questionable. Will cinemas ever return to normal?
Today, GSC took social media to share a piece of sad news where both GSC Leisure Mall and Berjaya Times Square is going to cease operation.
The post read :
We regret to inform you that we have ceased operations in GSC Cheras Leisure Mall and GSC Berjaya Times Square. We’ve had a good long run for GSC Cheras Leisure Mall since 1995 and GSC Berjaya Times Square since 2005 but, due to the current situation with opening restrictions due to the CMCO, have had shutter these cinemas permanently.
With this, we would like to convey our sincerest thanks and gratitude to all movie-goers who have long supported GSC Cheras Leisure Mall and GSC Berjaya Times Square.
Please keep an eye out for our reopening in the Klang Valley and stay updated with the latest news on our social media. We cannot wait to welcome you back to our cinemas and look forward to seeing everyone again soon.
Until then, stay safe, and thank you
Team GSC

There is nothing like watching a movie on a big screen. I really really hope the pandemic doesn’t bring the curtain down on the cinema industry!
