A Korean man, accidentally drank groundwater when he was 9-year-old visiting his grandparents in a small village. The groundwater with a rotten egg, bitter, musty, earthy smells disgusted and haunted him. Ever since that, he never drinks a sip of water and been drinking beverages all the time. He’s been taking his first sip of water after 20 over years!!!
This 30-year-old man makes an appearance in one of the TV reality show, ” National Talk Show: Hello”. He revealed he only drink beverages and not water, he even took medicine with coke. His friends threatened him ” you are going to die soon” and it doesn’t seem like changing his mind.
At one point, he experienced severe abdominal pain and the doctor diagnosed him with stones in his urinary tract and advised him to drink large amounts of fluids. But his first response was, ” Can I drink beer instead?”
Besides urinary stones, he suffered from other underlying health conditions like gastric ulcers, bowel obstruction, obesity, and many more.
The guests in the show asking him how many times he passes urine in a day, ” ONE time in a day” he said. His answer shocked everyone in the show.
At the end of the show, the crew prepared him 3 cups of drinks. The first cup is water with lemon but he couldn’t take a sip. The second cup, burdock tea where he barely drinks a cup and the third cup is plain water, where the host told him it’s a special beverage. He drank it and puking up by asking,” Why this drink taste like water?”
The host then told him, he should start drinking burdock tea then slowly to a lighter tea. Hopefully he can start taking in more plain water instead beer or other beverages as getting enough water every day is important for our health.
Drinking water can prevent dehydration, a condition that can cause unclear thinking, result in mood change, cause your body to overheat, and lead to constipation and kidney stones.
Water helps your body:
- Keep a normal temperature
- Lubricate and cushion joints
- Protect your spinal cord and other sensitive tissues
- Get rid of wastes through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements
