” My friends are all driving a nice car, and i only drove a Myvi.. I’m losing my face, you know!”

Lately, a young man took Facebook page, UTAR confessions 2017/18 to rant on his disappointment with his father, because his father promised to buy him a Honda Civic but ended up buying him a Myvi.

His original post read:

Sometimes i’m disappointed with my dad as he don’t keep his word, I’m not happy with it and instead of keeping within i wanted to rant it here.

Few months back, he promised to buy me Honda Civic, i never thought he will just bought me local manufactured car, a MYVI. While, I was having my breakfast that day, mum asked me to go check out my new car.

At first, i was excited, but when i saw my new car i’m truly shocked, WHY is it a Myvi?? I wanted a Honda Civic. I’m asking my dad, ” Why you bought me a Myvi?”. He answered,” Cars are all the same as long as you can drive, it’s just a transportation device”

He is using the same lousy excuses all the time. Why hurting me in this way, i already told him i wanted a Honda Civic, he is still getting something not what i wanted. Didn’t bother about him i straight away headed to my room.

The two salesman drove the new car to my house, wanted to take a picture but who wanted to take a picture at that moment. They knew i was mad and took a GrabCar and went off.

My dad never lost his temper even i had an argument with him. He never mad at me.

My family do not have any financial problem. The Myvi was fully paid with cash, only a few thousand different, i wonder why can’t my dad bought me a Honda Civic instead. My parents never respect me. My dad drove a Volvo worth more than RM 300,000, I’m frustrated by just thinking of it. How to drove a Myvi out to meet my friends?

My friends are all driving a BMW, Volkswagen.. these people will only teased at me if i drove a Myvi, i can’t even drove faster then a vvti engine. They all driving cars with engine above 2.0. I didn’t ask for a luxury car, the car i wanted it’s only RM 100,000 ++ .

I did very well in my first semester and even worked out a programme to facilitate his account related matter, saving cost and increase efficiency for his company. And most importantly, he is the one promised to buy Honda Civic for me.

I had a cold war with him for a week, he knew i’m mad at him. So, he always go here and there buying food i like, lecturing me in lengthy text, i finally break the ice with him.

One day, i send my mum for grocery shopping. She kept saying the car is good and comfortable. I stopped her from talking as deep down my heart, i’m still disappointed.

I’m speechless having a dad like this, not to say he is not good as he is treating me quite well. I can’t say he is not responsible as well because he is responsible. Although, when he grow old i will be taking care of him, be a filial son, but why he can’t treat me nicely now?

Let’s check out the netizens’ comments:

▼” It’s good enough to have a car, don’t complain. If you should buy your own car if your are capable. Anyhow, it’s just a transportation device. You dad treat you good enough”

▼” you still blaming your dad when you are not able to buy the car by yourself? if you are capable enough, buy with your own savings. Your dad drove a Volvo because he is capable.”

▼” I don’t think you will take care of him when he grow old, but i think in the other way round that you still rely on him.”

▼ A netizen is poking fun saying Myvi is good with special mode : Digging, speedboat and autopilot mode ~~~

▼” Feeling upset is pretty normal when reality and what you wish is different. But, i don’t agreed with the way he compared himself with his friends. Somehow, i still think he is a nice guy as he is still helping his dad in his business and sending mum for grocery shopping. Although he is mad but he also break the ice with his dad. So i think we shouldn’t magnified the bad side of this incident. He is still young, he will understand better when he step out to the society.”

It’s very challenging year for a lot of businesses, your parents might not be telling you hardship they went through. I think we should be thankful and appreciate what we have now.
