As a Malaysian, we love curry. There are many types of curry that you can find in our country. The most that we familiar one is at Mamak shop when we eat Nasi Kandar. You can never get over how good it tastes!
Usually, people cook curry using coconut milk. It just makes the curry much tastier and creamier~ However, since we are currently in MCO, it is hard for us to find coconut milk. Well, no worries, this Facebook user shared her recipe of easy meat curry without the use of coconut milk!
Let’s see how to cook it~
The ingredients that you needed are:
▶ 2 onions
▶ 2 stalks of curry leaves
▶ 1 tomato seed
▶ 2 potato seeds
▶ 1 carrot
▶ 3 stalks of dried pepper
▶ 4 stalks of green chilli
▶ 3 cloves of garlic (pounded)
▶ 2 slices of ginger (pounded)
As for curry powder, there are no fancy ingredients. You only need meat curry powder and chili powder. You can find these at the local market and supermarket.
▼Step 1: Heat the cooking oil in a saucepan, immediately sauté the garlic, ginger, onion, dried pepper, green chili, and curry leaves.
▼Step 2: Then, add the tomatoes and cook until it is moist.
▼Step 3: Add Tamarind juice. If you do not have tamarind juice, you can use yogurt
▼Step 4: Put all the spice powder into the dish. Mix well. The measurements are as follows:
– 1 packet of meat curry spices
– 3 teaspoons of chili powder
– 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
– 1 tablespoon of cumin spices and crushed coriander seeds
▼Step 5: Add the meat, carrots, and potatoes. Mix well with spices.
▼Step 6: Let the meat juice come out at the lowest heat.
▼Step 7: Cover the pot and leave for 10 minutes
▼Step 8: The meat juice has come out and put in a small bowl of water. Let and fire still the lowest heat.
▼Step 9: Finally, season with salt.
Now, it is done! It is delicious when you eat it with rice. It is thick, spicy, and a bit sour. Definitely authentic curry like the Mamak~
Ugh, I’m drooling at this delicious curry~
