Quarantine & Low Risk Treatment Centre in Selangor Turns into a “Mini Genting”??

Not long ago, some photo of Covid-19 patients drinking beer in a quarantine centre in Sabah went viral in social media. Since yesterday some videos of low-risk Covid-19 patients or people under surveillance (PUS) playing cards or gambling in quarantine centre circulated widely online.

In one of footage, a man that spoke Cantonese was believed taken those video in quarantine and low-risk treatment centre. It can be seen the alleged Covid-19 patients or people under surveillance (PUS) gambling or playing cards, even a kid around 10-year-old can be seen playing cards with some adults.

The man describing what he saw in the quarantine centre as “very happening”. However, it’s not mentioned the venue and date of the video taken.

The video clips that shared in the Facebook page, We are Malaysians even came with the caption ” Quarantine centre or Mini Genting” garnered nearly 1,000 responses and more than 970 shares.

Most netizens believed those video clips were taken in MAEPS, Selangor. These people were openly gambling even when the health officers in full personal protective equipment (PPE) gear standing at the counters which were not too far from them.

Some alleged patients were seen to have gathered in groups, playing cards and making bets using real money. Some can be seen changing the stakes to various packets of food in their game.

▼However, most netizens thought no harm to let these Covid-19 patients or PUS have some fun gambling. Happy = recover faster and check out faster ~~~

According to NST, Selangor Criminal Investigations Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Datuk Fadzil Ahmat said police will check the authenticity of these video clips. If there are elements of gambling or related crimes, police will take action on it.
