Screening 87 Staff in A Company With 77 of Them Tested Positive for Covid-19!

Out of 10 new clusters recorded on Jan 17, 6 of them related to outbreak from the workplace.

According to Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, a new cluster recorded in Selangor which is the “Jalan Pandan Indah” cluster. One of the staff of the said company underwent a Covid-19 test with a positive result.

“To date, we have screened 87 staff in the company with 77 of them tested positive.”

The index case for the Jalan Mawila cluster in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah was a navy staff who tested positive on Jan 13 before travelling interstate. Screenings on 130 other individuals detected 15 infections in total.

While, Jalan Menerung cluster( Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur) was identified through a workplace screening involving security guards at Apartment One Menerung, Bangsar earlier today. Of the 26 people screened so far, 23 were found positive.

Another workplace cluster “Jalan Perak” ( Johor Bahru, Johor) were detected through a targeted screening on a factory in the Pasir Gudang industrial area on Dec 31. A total of 504 people have been screened, of which 35 tested positive.

The Jalan Yap construction site cluster was detected in Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur. Cases from this cluster were found positive through a targeted screening on a construction site in Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, Kampung Baru earlier today. A total of 47 people have been screened and 21 tested positive.

The index case for the Jalan Mohammed Salleh cluster in Labuan tested positive on Jan 16 after returning from Sabah. Screenings on 423 people found another 12 infections, most of which were detected around the Labuan Industrial Training Institute.

Other than that was some cluster due to family gatherings, wedding celebration and interstate travelling and detention centre.

According to Oriental Daily, 80% of Covid-19 patients in Selangor are asymptomatic. Neither you nor I will know whether people next to us or even family members or colleagues contracted the virus unless they go screening.
