Our ex-prime minister, Najib Razak took social media to share with public that what we have seen on the media showing the drop of number of positive Covid cases was actually due to drop of number of screening.

His post read:

I was informed that the total Covid screening per day made MOH was reduced since last week.

As a result of the number of positive Covid cases reportedly dropped.

But the positive rate (i.e. total positive cases compared to the total screening) or the ” positivity rate” remains high and it’s above 5 %.

Last month, MOH once told that a positive rate of 5 % which is minimal level recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) shows the virus is spreading in society.

“Jan 11, 2021 The country’s COVID-19 test rate trend reached 8 % exceeding WHO’s recommended rate”

The Galen Center medical group also shares the same thought that the reduce in positive cases is due to a reduce in number of screening.

“Feb 13: Don’t be fooled by the decrease in Covid-19 cases, says the medical experts.”

Is it a significant drop for number of screening daily due to MOH measures announced last month that MOH will no longer screen all close contacts for positive cases?

Instead, only close contacts that show symptoms will be screened.

But please be informed that around 80 % of those who are Covid positive do not show any symptoms.

Malaysians are responding well in the number of new Covid cases announced daily but the people also have the right to know that the decrease of the daily cases is the result of the reduce of the daily screening too.

Many probably still wondering why the number of positive cases dropped so significant but the number of new clusters detected each day remaining high.

Because this is about public health, so we are hoping that MOH will also shows us data for the total screening as well as the latest positivity rate when announcing the total positive cases every day.

Fella Malaysians, please do not let your guard down!! Strictly adhere to SOP given. #kitajagakita #beatCovid-19
